firmly confirms the effects of early apoptosis. In the same way, mitochondria-selective dyes such as rhodamine 123 revealed the fact that the treated cells showed less mitochondrial membrane potential due to
the induction of apoptosis compared with the control cells. Till now, our novel lab has determined the outer layout of cellular death using novel platinum-based nano- theranostic agents. To reach the core, we need to study the molecular mechanism, including gene and protein expression, which will clearly indicate the up-regulation and down-regulation of pro- apoptotic and anti-apoptotic genes, respectively, as an effect of treatment with our novel nano-creation.
In conclusion, I will
say that we, at the smaller
platform, are trying to find
the treatment at the nano-scale level for one
of the most drastic diseases of the millennia: cancer. It can be noted that the 2018 and 2019 Nobel Prize in physiology or medicine was also allied with cancer. The 2018 prize
(awarded jointly to Sir Allison and Honjo) was given in the field of cancer immunotherapy. Meanwhile, recently the 2019 award (awarded jointly to Sir Kaelin, Semenza, and Ratcliffe) has been given for cellular response and adaptation to oxygen, which passively play a significant role in cancer cell growth and proliferation. So, we can feel the aura in the air that how researchers and scientists all over the globe are working day and night to find a proper solution to reduce the huge burden of cancer. With this, I will end up by saying a famous quote: Prevention is better than Cure!
   With the annals of time,
the interest in noble metal nanoparticles, such as gold and platinum, has increased due to their engrossing and uncanny properties. Recently, platinum compounds, such as cisplatin, carboplatin, oxaliplatin, heptaplatin, and so forth, have been successfully used as anti- cancer drugs to treat various types of cancers including breast cancer.
