My name is Quida Starkey and I have been a resident at Cottage of the Shoals for almost eleven years. I feel that sometimes people are mistaken about our caretakers. From the CNA’s and nurses to the housekeepers, laundry and dietary, every staff member is important to us. Some people say we come here to live and die and in some way that is true. However, living here is so much more than that. We are also here to be cared for everyday and our staff is great at taking care of all of us. During this virus, we have been on lock down since the very beginning. These angels (our staff) have come to work every day leaving their families at home not knowing what the day will bring. I thank God for them (the staff) everyday – they do an awesome job! We have a great Recreation Director. We have had a family parade where cars came through decorated and waved. We love to see our families even at a distance. We play games and bingo through our TVs and receive many treats. One day we even had a horse show. The horses were beautiful. I want everyone to know we are doing well and are being taken care of.
