   THE OUTDOOR SHOWMAN 1
Hello to all fellow showmen, friends and readers,
Spring has arrived and the Victorian Agricultural Show run is just about to begin...
We’ve spent the last few months in the Northern Territory; making our way back to Victoria via South Australia for
the Royal Adelaide Show. With just 10 days between the Adelaide and Melbourne Royals we are pleased to have
arrived safely in Victoria, ready to bump in at the Melbourne Showground!
The territory run was good and from all reports the Shows on the north and lower run have been the same! Well attended and good trading!
Melbourne has welcomed us with some fine weather, which we hope sticks around for the Melbourne Royal and Victorian Show circuit; especially after last year’s flooding disaster... We all need sunshine and strong attendances.
Some of our members will be in Horsham for the Show. Whilst I won’t be there personally this year; I wish them all the best for their 2023 Show.
The Wangaratta council have commenced works on the Showground, and as a result the Show Society advised us that the defined amusement area will be impacted this year. The Society has worked closely with council and we’ve indicated that we’ll do our best, assessing the situation on site and work in with all parties to make the layout work for this year.
The State Government intuitive ‘Kids Go Free’ will be a feature at some Victorian Shows in 2023/2024. Due to the flooding disaster in Victoria last year and the cancellation of many Shows, the program has been rolled over to allow those Shows the opportunity to participate, which is great news.
The Victorian Showmen’s Guild elections are underway and nominations for the Committee of Management close on the 28th of September 2023
at 12 noon. Please ensure your nominations are lodged with the Australian Electoral Commission prior to this time. If you require any assistance please contact Justine in the office for support.
A reminder to you all that the Victorian Showmen’s Guild General Meeting of Members will be held once again in Shepparton, on Thursday 12th of October at 1.00pm. Your attendance is important, as we discuss all matter relating to members and the up and coming shows. Please dedicate some time to be there and support your Guild.
The Annual General Meeting of Members (AGM) will be held at our head office in Flemington on Tuesday the 28th of November 2023. Once again the AGM papers will be circulated electronically, and published in the member’s only section of our website. Also, applications for new members and ground transfers must be lodged with the office no later than 28 days prior to the meeting.
Finally, the NHVR National Class 1 Special Purpose Combination Notice process is ongoing; and whilst it’s a long process to achieve the National Notice, we look forward to the notice assisting us well into the future.
Safe travels to all and all the very best for the Victorian Agricultural Show circuit.
