SAFETY
• Safety is our top priority.
• We background check staff and volunteers annually who have direct contact with our members.
• Full-time staff are First Aid and CPR certified.
• We maintain a relationship with the Scottsdale PD for trainings including Active Shooter and Sexual Abuse Prevention.
• BGCS vehicles are regularly inspected and maintained.
• Drivers are paid employees who are 21 and older, and driving habits are monitored by GPS
tracking systems.
• In our Clubs we have separate bathrooms for adults.
• We prohibit private one-on-one member supervision, transportation, and communication.
• We practice regular scheduled fire and lock down drills.
• Annual safety assessments are completed by staff.
Members are expected to follow the rules and regulations of the Club. In some cases, members will be suspended or expelled if behavior endangers or threatens the safety of any person. When a child’s behavior requires such consequences, a parent/guardian will be notified by a full-time staff member. Arrangements must be made to pick up the child immediately.
It is our goal to help change negative behavior into positive behavior. We do our best to work through situations with our members, and teach them alternative ways to handle difficult situations.
Please report any safety concerns to the Branch Director immediately.
* PLEASE NOTE: Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale has a zero tolerance policy when it comes to any type of physical contact or use of weapons. These behaviors or activities may lead to suspension or expulsion. Please refer to Zero Tolerance Policy on page 10.
