Six people injured in 'disturbance' at the
University of Essex as teenager arrested
Six people have been injured during a 'disturbance'
at the University of Essex. Essex Police were called
to the incident at the campus at Wivenhoe Park,
Colchester, shortly after 6pm on Saturday 14 May.

A spokesperson at the University of Essex said:
"We’re very grateful for the speedy response of our
Security and Campus Safety team and support of
Essex Police in resolving this incident safely. We’re
offering support to those affected and helping
Essex Police with their investigation.”

Western University in Canada taking steps to
address sexual violence, change culture on campus
The reviews were carried out in the wake of
allegations of gender-based and sexual violence
that surfaced on social media during Western’s
orientation week last September.
The university said it’s also building on
initiatives already underway, such as extra
campus safety measures, including hiring six
additional special constables and 15 new security
guards, conducting more security patrols and
upgrading security equipment.

Students and professors to protest campus police
The introduction of a protection team that will help
stamp out reported chronic lawlessness at 4 major
universities campuses in Athens has created
opponents who are mobilising students and
professors to hold protest rallies.
The teams will be introduced in the University of
Athens, the National Technical University of Athens,
the Athens University of Economics and Business and
the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH),
while the University of Patras may also join the list.
