I chose Mr. Proctor of Helena High School as my Distinguished Educator because of his contagious passion for teaching. Every day you walk into the classroom, he is brimming with excitement to talk about the novel we are reading, an article he found, or even to ask us how our weekend was. He draws students in because he has such a skill for creating safe environments to discuss, argue and share ideas. Most importantly, Mr. Proctor isn’t afraid to fight for what he believes in. He is always writing to the school board and advocating for liberal arts when funding is being prioritized elsewhere. I really admire
him for that.
