Mr. Poelking has been my volleyball coach for three years;
I know him well. He puts up with twenty teenage girls every day for three hours and stays sane. He knows every one of our gum preferences for games (having them at the ready in his famous fanny pack) and always picks up after me, retrieving the things I forget at practice. Poelking is one of the smartest people I know. You could probably ask him any question having to do with politics or history and he would have the answer. Not only this, but he also knows exactly when someone is upset and is the first person to make sure they’re ok. Poelking deserves this recognition one hundred percent; anyone who has him—as a coach or as a teacher— is lucky.
