I transferred to Hawthorne at the beginning of first grade and was welcomed with open arms by Mrs. Bartsch. Each morning, she would greet every student with the option of a hug or a high five; I always went for a hug because
Mrs. Bartsch gives the best hugs. Mrs. Bartsch instilled a deep passion for learning that will be with me throughout my life, and her positivity helped me grow from an apprehensive student to someone who was invigorated by learning and looked forward to attending school each day.
