HOUSEHOLD CHEMICAL ROUNDUP
in Castle Rock • Sat., September 21
You’ve cleaned your house from top to bottom, now it’s time to dispose of common hazardous household products that you don’t use or need any more as you button up your home for fall.
The Douglas County Household Chemical Roundup makes it easy to drop off your household hazardous waste. Go to the Castle RockWater utilities yard on Saturday, September 21, 2019, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (The utilities yard is located at 175 Kellogg Court, Castle Rock, west of I-25 and south of Santa Fe Drive.)
Many common products found in the home may be hazardous and should be used and disposed of carefully. These include mo- tor oil, antifreeze, vehicle batteries, solvents, house and garden chemicals, compact uorescent lights (CFLs), re extinguishers, items containing mercury, propane tanks (1-20 pounds), paint, and passenger vehicle and pickup truck tires off the rim. Proper disposal at the Roundup helps prevent the potential of accidental poisonings and re hazards in the home.
Residents drive up and volunteers will unload the materials. Douglas County participants should bring proof of residency, such as a driver’s license or utility bill, and $25 per vehicle to offset the high cost of hazardous waste disposal.
Residents are encouraged to register in advance online at tchd.org.
The Douglas County Household Chemical Roundups cannot accept waste from businesses and are not able to accept ra- dioactive waste, compressed gases other than propane (1-20 pounds), smoke detectors, tractor tires, electronic waste of any kind, scrap metal, 55-gallon drums, waste containing asbestos, or explosives.
VOLUNTEER: Individuals or community group volunteers are greatly needed at this event to help with registration, vehicle off-load, and waste processing.Volunteers are allowed to dispose of their waste for free. For more information or to volunteer, click onVolunteer Registration under the Douglas County tab on our website or call the 24-hour Household Chemical Roundup Hotline at 303-846-6249.

A FREE Drop-and-Swap area is available where citizens can pick-up unused household cleaners, car wax, antifreeze, fertilizer, and garden products that are still in their original containers. Reuse of these items promotes environmental stewardship by reducing the amount of waste disposed and additionally decreases the total disposal cost of the Roundup.
