Back in the ninth grade when I first heard about the Medical Mission Club, I didn't fully appreciate the true scope of its work. I thought club members just went to
poor countries and provided much needed medical supplies. On my first trip to the Dominican Republic,, i was pleasantly surprised to find out that what we do is
much mo-e than tnat. blot only do we treat patients directly/ but we also leave something for them once we are gone - and that is knowledge. In some cases, we
have taught people how to brush and floss their teeth properly, and how to use different kinds of medications, and generally about sanitary practices. This past
summer was my tnird mission and I am fortunate to Have been able to see how our work has helped many to improve the quality of their own lives.
