St. Philippine Duchesne founded the first Sacred Heart school in North America in 1818. Her feast is celebrated
on November 18, the date on which she died. St. Philippine is honored for her saintly and courageous life on
the American frontier. Her feast day denotes one o f the most special celebrations of the year. It is celebrated by
community masses and a play ini which Third Grade students perform a historical reenactment of her life.
