Q : How did you experience religion in your life while you were at Carrollton?
LJ: G od is a very important part o f my life, and I think Carrollton helped me be more
connected with G od and to be a good person. It is important to always live the way
G od would want you to live in a lovely, kind way. I think Carrollton nurtures this and I
think it's so special. I think you ladies are very fortunate.
Q : Did you go to Mass as a community?
LJ: Yes, we did. In fact, we went to chapel every morning. After we had our morning
assembly we would say a prayer in the little chapel in El Jardin. I believe it has been
restored since then. Also, once a week we would walk down Main Highway, much like
I have seen you ladies do, to go to St. Hugh. We had Mass with our priest who was
Father Radloff, who played the guitar, much like Father Vallee does today.
Q : Did you have the Five Goals when you were at Carrollton?
LJ: The Five Goals weren't adopted until right after I graduated but all the things that
they stand for we practiced. I think the Five Goals are such a well-rounded example of
how to live life. I try to be true to them every day.
Q : What do you remember most about Carrollton?
LJ: O ne thing I remember about Carrollton that helped me so much was the sense
o f community where we all worked together to help other people. Not only did we
"have a wonderful learning environment, but we were able to share so much with others
outside Carrollton. To this day, because o f Carrollton, I am still very involved in the local
■co'mmunity.
Q : Was community service a part o f your Carrollton experience?
LJ: As a community, we did lots o f volunteer work around town which was really
exciting. We would help people who were not as privileged as we were. We would go
and help children with special needs on the weekends and sometimes during the week;
w e would teach less fortunate children how to read.
