Vivian Garcia began her journey at Carrollton in 1986 when her eldest daughter, Maria Cristina 00, entered the Montessori School, followed by
her second daughter, Claudia '03 in 1988. Mrs. Garcia began teaching in the Primary School in the fall of 1994 as a third grade teacher and soon
moved to second grade where she taught for over 20 years. She quickly developed a love and passion for the preparation of students for ftjrst Moly
Communion which continues today. In 2013, Mrs. Garcia moved to the Montessori School, reigniting her original educational focus throughout her
university years.
Although not an alumna herself, Sacred Heart was very much present in Mrs. Garcia’s formation growing up, as her mother, aunt and great aunt are all
alumnae of the Sacred Heart schools in Cuba. She always understood the power of educating young women through the mission; of St. Madeleine
Sophie and wanted the same for her daughters. Maria Cristina and Claudia returned to Carrollton as Director of Alumnae Relations and Assistant
Athletic Director respectively.
In her understanding of the significance of Sophie's mission and during her years as a Sacred Heart educator, Mrs. Garcia has influenced and inspired
countless students and families. Her love of Sacred Heart is evident in everything she does and in her approach to her day to day endeavors. Her kind
and gentle nature is a welcoming force and brings joy to others. The Carrollton community is grateful to her and continues to cherish the gift that is
Mrs. Garcia.
