Seacamp: A Salty, Sunny,
Seventh Grade Experience
The Seventh Grade's Seaeamp experience featured a shark pond
swim, island exploration, algae dissection and snorkel trips.
Students headed to the shark pond with trepidation and emerged
after multiple shark-sightings with fears allayed and toes intact.
An algae dissection showcased the students’ acumen in marine
biology. Seventh graders waded to a nearby island and learned
about mangroves/coastal ecology. The coral heads, reached
by flatboat. were an excellent snorkeling locale. Students
swam past vivid coral and were mesmerized by stunning fish.
Several girls who had been hesitant to partake became the most
;
enthusiastic. The Seventh Grade left Seacamp a litt1^ ’ ’■><§
wasteful, and certainly saltier.
