As the recipients of Sophie's vision and the beneficiaries of those who have gone before us,
let us commit ourselves to be faithful to the presence and action of God's Spirit
                                                        that is alive in us.
                                                           Amen.

Located on the north, balcony o f the Science Technology Hall is a crest which was designed by Sister Ann Taylor
(Headmistress 1979-1998) with insights from Mary Aldrich and Sister Suzanne Cooke. It was installed with the
construction o f Founders: Library and the Science and Technology Hall. The crest features a: cross at its center
communicating the centrality o f Christ in Sacred Heart Education, and several recognizable icons. Located in the upper

The hibiscus flowers five trumpet-shaped petals remind us o f the Five Goals o f Sacred Heart Education. The oak tree
reminds us o f St. Rose Philippine Duchesne whose surname means, “heart o f oak.” The Barat and Duchesne campuses
both feature grand oaks which serve as places for prayer and community gatherings.
