On Sunday September 1,2019 Category 5 Hurricane Dorian struck the Bahar^as fl^Lning islnds and taking lives. Carrollton joined the South Fbnda comn.un,ty ,n collecting donations o f essential items for those in greatest need.
Carrollton accepted non-perishable food, water, power banks, diapers, first aid kits, etc. at each of its schools and Carrollton mothers volunteered to bring the donations to the local Bahamian Christ Church where they pitched in to sort items for transport to the
islands.
Carrollton mother Lisette Diaz said, "God put things in motion for us. Through the
qrace of God we have been able to come together to help. Things happened this past week that if you would have told me two weeks ago, I would have told you there is no human way to get that done, but here we are." Another mother, Minka Brantley, who has family in the Bahamas said, "I was so impressed by the amount that we were able to collect." She continues, "We got to Christ Church, and everyone just jumped in and got things going. Everyone was ready to make it happen for the people of the Bahamas."
Jerome Brown, Bahamian native and Carrollton staff member for 18 years, has family in the Bahamas and said, "My cousin took a boat from Nassau and found my brother and his wife in the Abacos, they are safe." Mr, Brown continued, "I would like to tell you ladies something very important. In everything you do, always acknowledge God. Put Him first in all things and he will guide you through any situation you are going through.
Mrs. Consegerua, Director of the Primary and Montessori schools reminds us, "We are a Sacred Heart school and it is part of our mission and responsibility and obligation to help those who are in need."
