Makerspace
Students from Third through Twelfth Grade visited the Philippine Makerspace this school year. They learried about the many tools available in the shop, such as the scrol and track saws drill press, and welder. They also developed and refined r^aker skills like soldering ebctncal connections and using design software to direct the laser cutter and CNC router. While many students came in on their own to work
on school-related or personal projects, several grades incorporated makerspace activities into their class time. Third Graders drilled holes and learned how to use
^ n d tools to attach screws and nuts while making string art decorations, Fourth Graders used the laser cutter/engraver to etch wooden ornaments with their hand- drawn designs tor the Jesse Tree, Sixth Graders each designed and crafted their own custom wooden cellphone stands with built-in passive sound amplification,
and IB Design students created inventions to solve real-world problems. The rriakerspace continues to grow in popularity and has become one ofthe go-to places to create students' next best ideas.
Sixth Graders crafted cellphone stands out of wood and recycled materials.
