Carrollton improved its already established Robotics program by bringing Engineering concepts to the
Montessori and Grades 1 -8. At different levels, students applied their math, science, and technology
skills to create and program simple machines using motors and sensors. Sixth Grade students learned
about drilling, soldering and wiring circuit boards. Thanks to a generous grant from AT&T, Carrollton
hosted the first of many FIRST® Lego® League Competitions. The Junior High team finished 5th in
the robot competition and 4th at Regionals. The High School robotics team placed 3rd and 4th in the
120 pound class at Nationals. The rookie team in VEX was second only to a team from Virginia for
qualifying for the Robots for World competition from a pool of 5000 teams from around the world.
