When stress chemicals are released, Executive Function is turned down to

save energy. The energy is used to help the threat response (fight/flight)

When our brain senses any threat or danger, the energy-greedy part of the brain in

charge of Executive Function Skills is turned down. These skills become weaker.

It is harder to be deliberate, calm and flexible. It is harder to process information.

Cleverly, the brain turns up the skills needed for threat response and these skills

become stronger. We become more alert, rigid, impulsive and emotional. Our brain

gets ready for fight, flight or freeze.
