Responding When Things Go Wrong
▪ Calm, Connect, Support (CCS) is about how to respond in the moment.
It’s focused on helping the child get back on track, keeping things calm
and preventing the issue from spiraling. Think paramedic / A & E.
▪ We separate CCS from the other steps because it’s only when everyone is
calm and rational that we should move on to problem solving and coaching.
▪ Adults often make the mistake of trying to problem solve too early -
whilst the child is still emotional or defensive.
