Finding Calm
▪ Many children have not regularly experienced the feeling of
‘calm’.
▪ This means that when adults tell them they need to ‘be calm’,
many don’t even understand what this means or cannot become
calm easily.
▪ They will need to experience this feeling
and practise ways to ‘become calm’
many times before they will be able to
do it in the moment of things going wrong.
▪ Research shows that daily meditation or
mindfulness techniques can make a big
difference to a child’s ability to regulate
feelings and energy.
