Difficulties with Working Memory
When someone has problems with working memory, they may think they are not
as clever as other people.
This is not true. Very intelligent people can have trouble with working memory.
Famous scientist, Alfred Einstein, had a very poor working
memory. He could not remember dates or his own phone
number. When he was a child, Einstein’s teacher described
his memory ‘like a sieve’.
Sometimes he even forgot where he was going! Once,
a train conductor asked for his ticket. The conductor
then recognized him and said he could travel for free.
Einstein replied, “Thank you, but if I don’t find my
ticket, I won’t know where to get off the train.”
