                                                                 • Do you explicitly teach all children what happens to the brain and body when their
                                                                    needs are not well met?
                                                                 • Do you help children to notice their ‘affect’ and practice describing it with a range of
                                                                    emotional language, rather than reacting to it with throwing, running from or burying
                                                                    their unpleasant feelings (fight, flight, freeze)?
                                                                 • Do children get time to rehearse new responses to threat, and to practice these over-
                                                                    and-over again until it is automatic – a new neural habit?
