When our needs are not met so well …
▪ When needs aren’t met well, stress chemicals,
such as cortisol, are released into the body.
▪ This may result in a physical feeling. We may
feel hot, get a prickly feeling inside or our heart
may flutter. It may grow slowly or appear very
suddenly.
▪ We call both pleasant or unpleasant feelings
‘Affect’
▪ Unless a person has strong skills to tolerate
that feeling, it may lead to a stress response
(fight, flight, freeze are the ones people talk
about most).
