What does this all mean to our practice?
▪ DON’T LEAVE THE DAILY DOSE TO CHANCE – IT NEEDS PLANNING AHEAD.
▪ BY KNOWING ABOUT BRAIN BEST, WE CAN BUILD CHILDREN’S CONFIDENCE, SENSE OF
SELF AND RESILIENCE SYSTEMATICALLY.
1 Teach children what happens when our needs are met well and about their DOSE.
It will help them to understand how important this is for their brain to be at its very
best.
2 Plan daily children experiences which give children their Daily Dose.
Don’t leave children’s (or your) DOSE to chance – plan ahead with children to make
sure everyone gets ‘DOSED up’ each week.
3 Help any children who are struggling to plan helpful ways to increase their Daily Dose.
Create an individual plan with a Pathway to Independence for children who you know
are walking around wearing blue or red lenses and have a Balance of Life skewed
towards vulnerability. Work out which of their DOSE is low and work with them to
design helpful ways to increase it.
Supporting children to understand how to get their Daily Dose in helpful ways equips
them to manage their well-being and mental health into adulthood.
