Benevolent & Positive Childhood Experiences
On the following pages are listed the 16 Benevolent & Positive Childhood
Experiences (an amalgamation of the research by Narayan et al (2018) and
Bethell (2019)).
These benevolent and positive experiences have been shown to have a
significant long-term impact on a person’s physical and mental health. They are
also known to be a factor in the likelihood of future unemployment, substance
use and criminal activity.
Consider how many of these are impaired through the use of traditional
behaviourist approaches in which the focus is a punishment intended to bring
about some form of unpleasant feeling for the child.
