Own concerns, flip the praise

      Own your concern

Keep ‘I’ in the issues you have with the child’s behaviour.
Keep the ‘you’ blamer out of them.

“When I see people moving around in assembly, I find it
distracting and then I lose my flow of thoughts. Then I can’t
do such a good job and it’s upsetting for me.”
“I also notice that other people get distracted and they
       don’t learn so much.”

       Flip the praise

Keep yourself out of the good stuff – it’s about them, not you.

“It must feel great for you that you can now hold your body still
through the whole of assembly. You couldn’t do that at the start of the
        term.”
“That’s a really useful skill for life – people will like to sit next to you in the
        cinema too now!”
