Strong Processing Speed Checklist
SKILL I DEMONSTRATED THIS SKILL
MOTORIC PROCESSING
I can write at a good speed to get a task done in the time given
to me. I can write at a speed which is about the same as others
of my age (fine motor).
I can get dressed / changed at a speed about the same as others
of the same age so I am ready in the time agreed.
I can move my body quickly enough to catch or kick a ball.
I can complete tasks at the same speed and in the same amount
of time as others my age.
I can get my things together and be ready to leave in the time
agreed and at the same sort of speed as other people my age.
N.B. Although it is possible to improve Processing Speeds through repeated and consistent practise, if a child has a specificcognitive difficulty in this area,
they may continue to find it extremely hard to process information at the same speed as their peers. It may therefore be necessary to provide additional
time and also use scaffolds and strategies to support the child (see our Strength Based Approach to Executive Function Skillsbook for details on effective
strategies and scaffolds).
