Resilience & Difficulties
Everyone has some things they find harder.
It may be that the things you find hard are skills we use a lot in
school, work and in life (like the Control Centre Skills). This means
you spend more of your time noticing your difficulties than your
strengths.
If someone finds art really difficult, they may only notice once a
week in an art lesson. If a person finds reading or remembering
information hard, they notice in almost every lesson. That is
tough!
▪ Keep a big focus on your strengths – EVERY DAY (go back and
read Page Ask someone you trust to explore the things you find
easy and the things you find harder (use our Strengths Cards to
help).
▪ Work out ways to support your difficulties so they aren’t such a
problem for you (the information for each of the Executive
Function Skills in this booklet may help you think of some
130
strategies).
