Emotional Regulation
Self-soothing
There will always be times when things go wrong and cortisol rises in our
system. This is a normal part of life.
The trick is to be able to self-soothe quickly so we do not let a rise in
cortisol stop us from doing well in life.
Self-soothing allows us to bounce back quickly.
Self-soothing is a skill.
It is part of Emotional & Energy Regulation – one
of the Executive Function Skills.
Self-soothing also needs Flexible Thinking.
It is a special sort of flexibility called
‘Emotional Flexibility’.
