Using Neuroscience to Embed Your Learning

Retrieval makes a huge difference to how successfully we embed learning.

Instead of just re-reading notes, if we try to retrieve first, it strengthens neural circuitry.

Here are some top tips for refreshing the training to make the most of our knowledge of

neural circuitry:

▪ Before you look through the slides and videos, write down everything you can

remember about this course module.

▪ You might want to create a Mind Map (see next slide).

▪ Then look through the pictures on Slide 8. Do they jog your memory about anything?
Add anything else you have remembered to your Mind Map.

▪ Then try to answer the questions on Slide 9. Does this jog your memory of any

elements? Add it to your Mind Map.

▪ As you look through the slides, go back to your Mind Map – did you remember
correctly? Miss anything?

▪ Look at the answers to the questions on Slides 24, 25 & 26. Did you answer them

correctly? Miss anything?
