Maximise Strengths
Whilst we work with children to build any weaker
Executive Function Skills, it is vital that we also
support them in maximising their strengths.
We can do this by helping them to:
1. Remind themselves of their strengths every day by keeping a
list of their strengths, a collage of photographs to show them or
speech bubbles with positive things people have said about
them.
2. Support them to get involved in as many things as possible
that use their strengths – in and outside of school.
▪ Find out what clubs are available that match their strengths.
▪ Reflect on what they enjoy? Sports, art, chess, computing,
animal welfare, design?
▪ If there aren’t any clubs they are interested in nearby, speak
to their school, ask an adult to help them get in touch with
their local council or look on the internet.
3. Make sure other people know their strengths so
that they can design lessons and tasks that use them.
