Remember - it needs the adult to FEEL what the child is feeling and to
empathise – even when s/he is doing something that really isn’t ok
for others.
Remember - the anti social bit can be tackled in follow-up when cortisol levels
drop and the child is calm and rational).
A child throws their lunch on the floor
▪ Ah, Ben. Things must be going really wrong for you to throw your lunch on the floor.
▪ It must be really tough to feel that upset / angry (read child’s emotion).
▪ Don’t worry. I’m on your side. Let’s work out how you can feel good again.
