TO SUMMARISE
• KN is a good law firm, we know Sharon and the partners appointed seem to be
professional and experienced. You might ask to speak to a couple of their past clients
and see what they feel
• You must meet the partner and assistants involved in this case before signing anything.
If the "chemistry" is not right look elsewhere. A great example of this was in Louise's
case where my feeling about the lawyer from the outset were ve,y negative. I did not
follow them. which was to our great disadvantage
• Their costs and fee rates are in line with any top London firm
• The documentation you have been provided with is heavily in KN's favour and can be
argued in different ways to your disadvantage if necessary
• I would highlight the points that you have picked up on the documentation plus any
discussed above (especially those in red) and meet with Sharon and get clarification to
in writing
• You must get insurance in place to cover all eventualities. I have been going to
criminal and civil cases for over 50 years and I can count on the fingers of one hand
the cases where I think justice prevailed. Cases always look fantastic at the outset but
very quickly deteriorate, even when they are overwhelming
• Remember that the success fee is not recoverable even if you win. You might therefore
wish to agree a slightly higher hourly rate and a significantly lower success fee
If I can help, please just give me a shout. I am more than happy to come with you to meet
Sharon.
Regards
Mike
