                   Dear Mr Donovan,

I am probably breaching every conceivable protocol by writing to you directly, but I am
genuinely trying to help and to avoid what could become a catastrophe.

Sig is a good, honest and hard-working man and desperately worried about the future.
He does not know which way to turn and is something of a lost soul. He is not trying to
pull a fast one with his personal injury claim, but he did not understand (and neither did
                   I) the process. You are experts and we are not. But Sig is entitled to ask questions and
give his views. My file note made my limitations abundantly clear and was submitted as
                  an internal discussion document.

Sig has not lost confidence in KN or in Mr Furniss. but he could not understand the
reasons for the delay in progressing his claim and the absence of any visible plan. It is
over three years since you were retained.
He has searched and is still looking to find employment and I have tried to help him. The
job market is not as easy as people think.

Your last letter, as well as comments in counsel's Further Opinion, have caused Sig
unbelievable distress. They paint him as an obdurate plonker, but he is far from that. In
the years I have known him I have never heard him raise his voice or show any signs of
being difficult. He is one of the nicest and honest people I know. We are all very
concerned for his well-being and so should you be.

I drafted a response to your letter -overnight - which I sent as a draft to Sig to consider,
before discussing it with him and final proofing. It now appears that confused and in
desperation Sig forwarded it to you unamended. So please excuse the typos and
confusing layout; consider the options examined and the recommend way forward. I will
work with you to help in any way I can.

I am attaching the proofed letter. which Sig will sign and send to you by recorded
                  delivery first thing tomorrow.

                  Sincerely

                  Michael Comer
