Objectives
Importance of breastfeeding
Every infant and child has the right to good
nutrition according to the "Convention on the
Rights of the Child“ 1989.
Breastmilk makes the world healthier, smarter,
and more equal.
The scaling up of breastfeeding can prevent an
estimated 823,000 child deaths and 20,000
breast cancer deaths every year.
A non-breastfed child is 14 times more likely to
die in the first six months than an exclusively
breastfed child.
