Antimicrobial stewardship

Multidrug resistant organisms are on the rise because of misuse of antibiotics.

Antibiotics should only be prescribed for bacterial infections and when clinically indicated.

It is about prescribing the right antibiotic for the right patient, at the right dose, route, duration every time.

Follow the hospital antibiotic guide for empiric treatment of infections and some require approval from infectious

Antibiotics should be reviewed daily and a decision made about duration, stopping, narrowing the spectrum

                                                    or switching to oral antibiotics.
