The annual boat parade will be held on Saturday,
July 4th at 7:30 PM. Participants are asked to stage in
the area of the DNR boat ramp at the north end of the lake. All boats are welcome so put on your best costumes and patriotic decorations and join the fun for a great celebration. If you can’t join us on the water, please join us as a spectator.
As this newsletter is being prepared there are many uncertainties facing us in the next few months due to the Coronavirus. We will make every attempt to keep you advised related to ALPOA activities and lake activities. We will be dependent on using our Facebook page to keep you informed. In the meantime we wish everyone the best of health and will see you on the lake.
COOPERATIVE LAKES
MONITORING PROGRAM Funding Temporarily Exhausted
ALPOA has been a participant in the CLMP program for many years. Trained resident volunteers have taken water samples and measurements of our lake’s water to develop a water quality database.
ALPOA participated in the Secchi Disk measurement of water clarity, spring and fall sampling of total phosphorus and summer chlorophyll.
On January 14, 2020 the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE) announced funding for the CLMP program has been exhausted. New funding has been secured through a new five-year contract with Renew Michigan Initiative. The CLMP program is temporally suspended in 2020 with
renewed funding beginning in 2021.
We thank our resident volunteers for their past participation in the program and look forward to our renewed participation in the future.
FISH STOCKING PROGRAM 2019
Our fish stocking program continues to produce some outstanding reports of good catches of fish. Last summer fishermen reported record-size catches of Black Crappies, Yellow Lake Perch and large mouth bass. There were several Perch caught in the 12 and 13 inch size. In October we stocked 500 Yellow Lake Perch 5” to 7” and 841 Black Crappies 4” to 6”.
Your generous donations to this program will sustain this program for the future and provide quality sport fishing and delicious table fare.
