Hospitals then and now
• Mansuri hospital
One of the largest hospitals ever built was the Mansuri
hospital in Cairo , the building could hold more than 4000
patients
It had a huge domed lecture hall , a school , and an orphanage
.
There was also a mosque for Muslims , and a chapel for
Christian patients
A doctor would visit each patient and record his observation
on the patent’s card , special steps were taken to prevent
infection
People were placed on a fixed diet and people who were
cured but too weak to leave ,stayed until they were strong
