                                                        :

Exponent of 1

Example: ????=5

"Five to the power of one equals five.“
(Any number to the power of 1 is the number itself.)

 Exponent of 0

Example: ???? =1

"Seven to the power of zero equals one.“

(Any number to the power of 0 is always 1 except zero)

Example:

(-??)?? =(-2) × (-2) × (-2) =-8

So, negative bases with odd exponents remain negative

(-??)-?? = ??
             (-??)??

This means you flip the base and then raise it to the positive exponent

Example:

(-??)-?? = ?? ??
             (-??)??
                      = ??

(-??)-?? = ?? ??
             (-??)??
                      = -????
