There are 5328 ants in the colony, there are 2164 female ants ,the
rest are male. How many male ants in the colony?

Answer 5328
Total ants 5,328 , female ants 2,164 2164 X

Then , X + 2164 = 5328,
X = 5328 – 2164 = 4164

Example (2)

There are 20000 ants in the colony, of which 12000 ants came out.
How many ants are still inside the colony ?

Answer

Total ants 20,000 , Came out ants 12,000

Then , X + 12,000 = 20,000 20000

, X = 20,000 – 12,000 = 8,000 X 12000

Example (3)

(2) There are 12,000 ants in the colony. 2500 ants of them are
females and the rest are males. How many male ants are there
in the colony?

Total ants 12000 , females' ants 2500 12000
X = 12000 – 2500 = 9500 X 2500
