P. 13
How does it occur?
1- The plant leaves absorb carbon dioxide from the air that
enters through stomata.
2- The green leaves absorb sunlight by chlorophyll “which
gives the leaf its green color”.
3- The plant roots absorb water & minerals by root hairs.
4- The leaves get the water and minerals by:
a) Plant’s roots.
b) Xylem in the stem.
c) Smaller vessels of xylem in the leaves.
5- All the previous substances react together to produce:
a) The plant food (Glucose or sugar, starch, fats and proteins)
The plants use glucose as a source of energy to live and
grow.
b) Oxygen gas and water vapor: they are released in air
(as waste materials for the plant & as basic needs for other
livings.)
6- Glucose is transported from the leaf to other parts through the
phloem.
