The victim, who lost $100 and his bicycle to the two crooks, informed Officer John Wagner of the 88th Precinct, who shortly afterwards collared two suspects, Michael Carrion, 371 Essex Street, and Philip Garcia, 79 Lafayette Avenue, with the loot and bicycle.JOGGERS GAVE CHASE: Assistance from two bystanders helped to foil a robbery on the Brooklyn Bridge foot path on July 4th. At 6:10 that evening two males robbed a French embassy official and three members of his family and then fled on foot to Brooklyn. Joggers gave pursuit and police officers Paul Sagnilli and Anthony Lombardo of the 84th Precinct joined the chase. Arrested were Kenneth Smith, 16, 192 Sand Street, and another youth underage. The two teens had to be subdued by police, who found an 11%u201d knife in the possession of one.RAPED, BEATEN WOMANFOUND: An unidentified 20-year old woman was apparently raped, beaten and sodomized later on the evening of July 10 or early on the following Tuesday morning near Eastern Parkway and was dumped in Prospect Park. She was found, conscious but bleeding, by dog walkers early that morning. The 70th Precinct responded to the call and took the woman to Methodist Hospital in Park Slope. Police would not comment further on the case.THEY HAD A BLAST: A resounding blast from an ignited case of M-80 fireworks blew out storefront and apartment house windows on Henry Street, between Union and Sackett Streets at 10:30 pm on the Fourth of July. Police said they received two complaints of malicious mischief after the explosion, but Henry Street residents told police that a neighborhood man came forward and admitted he%u2019d caused the %u201c accident.%u201d Neighbors would not reveal the man%u2019s identity, but police said no investigation was planned after local residents told them the man promised to repair all damaged property. No injuries were reported from the blast.TWO AXED IN CARROLLGARDENS: Two Carroll Gardens men %u201cliving on the street%u201d were found murdered in an abandoned lot at Garnet Street near Smith Street last Friday, July 6. Police said Frank Andersen, 56, of 33 First PL, and Daniel Meehan, 57, of 96 First PL, were murdered between 4-8 a.m. that day, after finding the bodies of the two men sprawled amidst the automobile wreckage in the junk-strewn lot. Both men had multiple wounds about the head and face as well as fractured skulls, stemming from the brutal attack by an unknown assailant wielding an ax.A massive police search began for clues and witnesses almost immediately, but a spokesman for the 11th Homicide Zone Detectives said that police still have no suspect, no motive, no witnesses, and no clues save the note they found propped against he face of one of the victims that read: %u201cThe Ax Man. (2 down and 9 to Go).%u201dCrown Heights Blacks Plan BoycottBlack representatives of Crown Heights held a City Hall press conference July 10 calling for a federal investigation into the activities of both the police and Crown Heights Hasidic community %u201c against%u201d the black community there. They announced a planned boycott by blacks of all Hasidicowned stores in Crown Heights. The black protests are aimed at two unrelated incidents, one the June 10 death of black community leader Arthur Miller at the hands of police in a brawl that began over parking tickets and the other the near fatal June beating of Victor Rhodes, a 16 year-old black youth, allegedly by a gang of Hasidim. Although the Miller death is under investigation by the Brooklyn District Attorney%u2019s office, Crown Heights spokesmen say the outcome will be a %u201cwhitewash.%u201d These fears, along with allegations of Hasidim street patrols and %u201c preferential%u201d police treatment of the Hasidim have prompted the black demand for a federal investigation in Crown Heights. The black boycott of Hasidic businesses is supported by a coalition of black groups, including the Black Community Congress; Brooklyn CORE; the Coalition of Concerned Citizens for Our Youth; the Arthur Miller Defense Fund; and the Crown Heights First Baptist Church. At the rally it was also announced that there will be a march and rally hrough the Crown Heights community Sunday, July 16 to protest Miller%u2019s death and the Rhodes beating by Hasidim as well as to publicize the planned black boycott. The march will begin at 2 p.m. at the 77th precinct (Utica Avenue and Bergen Street) and proceed to Kingston Avenue and Eastern Parkway, where a rally will be held. It will end with a march to the 71st precinct (New York Avenue and Empire Boulevard).According to BC%u2019C chairman JituWeusi, the formation of a black counterpart to the Hasidic civilian patrols will be completed this week and a swearing in ceremony will be held Friday, July 14, at the Sumner Avenue Armory.%u2014P.H.LegalAt a Special Term, Part n, of the Civil Court of the City of New York, held in and for the County of Kings, at the Courthouse, 141 Livingston Street, Brooklyn, New York, this day of June, 1978.
