WILLETThe present Long Island College Hospital plan, unveiled for City Planning Commissioner Zucotti in his office on Feb. 8, 1973, as diagramed on the map shows: hospital buildings on hospital land C; hospital buildings on public parklandD; hospital garage On publicparkland A; and replacement parkland on hospital \The result of this \is a net reduction in the sum of zoning required %u201c open space\plus D) available to the community. Mr. Fuller is presently reported solicitingMr. Vorhees consent to this deal. The chart shows on the diagonal line the minimum percent of open space required for lots withvarious building heights, and on the dots the various maximum lot coverage percentages for various building heights (both for R6 zoning). The conclusion to be drawn from study of the maximum lot coverage figures is that above 5 stories the hospital will gain no appreciable net usable space. Why then are they unhappy about the February 5, 1973 CPC resolution?'Don%u2019t Quote Me, But.BY SCORPIO%u2022 %u2022That old rumor is around again about A&S closing its downtown Brooklyn store and about how Downtown Brooklyn is coming apart at the seams: heard*it twice in the past week. All the professional naysayers ought to take a look at what is really happening: new Con Edison building opened and a new Telephone building going up on Flatbush Extension. But the thing they really should hear is the news A&S management .sent to home office of Federated Stores at the end of January: sales at the downtown Brooklyn store were over $163 million last year %u2014 another record year at that location. How are things going down at Kings Plaza, Macy's?%u2605 %u2605 %u2605 %u2605 %u2605As Democratic contenders square off in earnest to see who is actually going to go into a petition campaign to be on the baiiot, Mayor Lindsay appears to have reached a decision to stay out out of the primaries, that is. Some Lindsay commissioners are receiving word that they should be prepared to support a bid for re-election by His Honoras an independent (and Liberal), and if they aren't prepared to go all out, they should begin looking for work elsewhere . . .* * * * *Contrary to the impression that may have been created last week by Scorpio, petitionsigning aside, Assemblyman Mike Pesce has been one of the strongest forces for peace in the feud between Long Island College Hospital and its neighbors. Through his intervention, the State Comprehensive Health Planning Council has come into the picture %u2014 probably one of the most important factors in bringing discussion by the Hospital to a realistic .level.ir k ix ir kMore on Mayor: while some of the candidates for Mayor are boosting a %u201c back to the Boroughs\Herman Badillo in at least one instance is singing \in Manhattan.%u201d While everybody who is anybody in Brooklyn has decided that Baruch College should end up re-locating to the Atlantic Terminal area (Flatbush and Atlantic), Badillo has urgedthat Baruch should move to Lower Manhattan. In correspondence with Chancellor Kibbee of the Board of Higher Education that has received wide circulation by supporters of the move to keep Baruch in Manhattan, Badillo came out against the decision to moveRosenthal, lately a loser in a contest for Democratic district leadership of the 57th A.D. (Gowanus, Boerum Hill, Fort Greene and Williamsburg) to Abe Gerges. Rosenthal could just be in to stay and the support he will pull out of the Jewish community in Williamsburg will hurt Councilman Richmond plenty.'k irfeiz'kWhile the regular organization%u2019s picture gets more complex, the insurgents appear Baruch to Brooklyn as the => to be solving their problems and ----- <-------------cornerstone of a desperately- bui'c'in8 UP f%u00b0r a strong single needed renewal of the areaaround the Long Island Railroad Station.
