The company, located at Packer Collegiate Institute in the Heights, is the city%u2019s only summer theatre group run by young people for young people.%u201c Our goal is twofold,%u201d said Jane Stanton, the director, %u201c To give teenagers with talent and interest in theatre arts the experience of actually operating a summer stock company; and to give N.Y.C. children the exciting experience of %u2018live%u2019 theatre at minimal cost. This summer%u2019s program plan is geared particularly to the children in N.Y.%u2019s day care, head start, andday camp programs. To some of these children the concept of living theatre is completely new.%u201dLast year Popcorn and Popsicle played to over 2000 children with three original musical plays. This season, with 4 matinees per week they hope to serve 5000. The company of th e . theatre will be made up of 8 teenagers, working for a salary. They will learn all theatrical areas: acting, dance movement, scenery, costumes, publicity, props, etc.These teenagers will be working under the guidance of Jane Stanton, who is also Packers Middle School Drama Director and a well-known children%u2019s theatre diPlannedrector and playwright. Working with the company will be %u201c apprentices,%u201d volunteers who will work backstage, be eligible for theatre classes, and fill in minor roles in productions.A full-scale workshop with classes in such subjects as: improvisation and pantomine, scene studies, dance movement, musical comedy theatre and technical theatre will be open to the teen-age public. These courses will be conducted by theatre professionals in all fields. The program will include music by Genghis Nor and \ing of South India by Marie de la Soudiere Gerety. The performance will be held Saturday, June 1, 8:00 p.m., at the First Presbyterian Church, 124 Henry Street in Brooklyn Heights. General Admission is $3.50 per person and $1.75 for students and children under 12 years of age.Genghis Nor, born in Brooklyn and educated at Albany State College, is a teacher and lecturer in contemporary music. In 1968, he formed his own group, %u201c Rebirth\which has become widely known here and in Europe. All music inthe program has been composed by Genghis Nor. The group, many of whom are also teachers, define their style simply as emotional, joyful and exciting...an effort to cover the total spectrum of peace and love.Marie de la Soudiere Gerety was born in France and is now a resident of Cobble Hill. She has studied Sharatnatym in New Delhi, India, under Guru Govindarajan of Bengalore. In India, she participated in \graphed by a disciple of Vday Shankar.
