Stanley Goldberg, after several months of complaints by community residents that Goldberg was gening little done aboui neighborhood needs. On the agenda for ihc meeting was a resolution to oust Goldberg, bui he read a statcmcni before it could be voted on.Councilmember Ted Silverman, who represents most of the Board Nine District, attended this meeting, the first he has come to since the Board elections in January and February. At ihai lime, Ed Hightower, a black community leader, was elected as Board Chairman over Silverman's apparent opposition. Since ihai lime, aitcndancc hv ihe Board's Hasidic Jewish members, who represent the large Hasidic community in ihc area, has been poor.The Iasi four meetings of ihc Board have lacked a quorum. At Board Eight's 5~tociiiber 25 hearing Crown Heights%u2019 residents asked for items to be included in the budget for child care and recreation and rehabilitation of the area%u2019s housing stock. The development of a school for the performing arts for School District 17 was also discussed. The next step in the budget process will be consultations between the Community Board and agencies at the district level followed by a statement on district needs and priorities with specific project requests to the City%u2019s Office of Management and Budget by October 31.-V.C.Fulton Committee MeetsUtilization of its shopping area improved security, and beautification are the goals that have been set by a committe to upgrade the Fulton Street section of Clinton Hill. The Fulton Street Improvement Committee (FSIC) has established a list of priorities that will help them achieve these aims.Consisting of members of the local block associations, the Committee has placed the relocation of both the Addiction Research and Treatment Corporation (ARTC) between Fulton and Waverly Streets and the St. St. Mary%u2019s Methadone Clinic at the top of their list. A formation of a merchants%u2019 association to advise shop owners about techniques to improve their businesses and encouragement towards new attractive shops to be opened are also being considered in helping them obtain then goals. In addition, the FSIC has put in requests to agencies responsible for the up-keep and safety of the streets, subway stations, and parks in the surrounding area.Next meeting is scheduled for October 12 at Teen Challenge, 444 Clinton Avenue between Greene and Gates Streets at 7:30 pm.
