Stylized postures of scenes of Kabuki drama were favored by the Katsukawa School around 1770 but by the end of the century more individualized portraits of actors were executed by Sharaku, Toyokuni and other masters. In the middle of the 19th century Toyokuni who started the Utagawa School tried more active scenes of performances until prints were replaced by the newly invented photographs at the end of the century.Ukiyo-E: Actor Prints and Paintings at the BrooklynMuseum, 200 Eastern Parkway through January 31, 1980,638-5000.N a m e s M a k e N e w sCommunity Board Two elected its officers for next year on Wednesday, December 12, Grantley Chrichlow, Chairman; Vivian Patterson, 1st Vice Chairman; Howard Zimmerman,2nd Vice Chairman and Clara Schwabe as Executive Secretary.Edward B.
