The original country house, seen in the distance, stood on the site now occupied by Fort Hamilton High School (between 83rd and 85th Street and Shore Road). The large building at left was the boathouse belonging to the club. Members could come by boat from Manhattan to have supper and spend a quiet evening in the country.Athletic prowess distinguished the Crescent Club from coast to coast: football, baseball, lacrosse, rowing and championship tennis (years before a Forest Hills stadium was built). In 1906, the Crescent Club even built a townhouse at Pierrepont and Clinton Streets. By 1931, however, Brooklyn was no longer country and the club gave up their buildings and moved to Huntington, Long Island. Joseph Coppa.
