DOWNTOWNBROOKL YNREAL ESTA TESenator D %u2019Amato JoinsFulton South OpeningThe Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation officially opened its latest lowincome housing development, The Fulton South Apartments, on April 28 in a ribbon cutting ceremony featuring guest speaker Senator Alphonse D%u2019Amato.D%u2019Amato presented Ted Barnett, president of Restoration with the Presidential Recognition Award for the project on behalf of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan had nominated the community development corporation for the prestigious award last year.Barnett also received the Minority Contractor%u2019s Utilization Award from Joseph Monticciolo, Regional Administrator/ Regional Housing Commissioner of HUD for Restoration%u2019s outstanding record in hiring minority construction contractors.The $6.1 million Fulton South Apartment building is one of the last developments to be built under the HUD Section 8 subsidy program. The apartments are the housing part of a mixed-use residential/commercial complex under development by Restoration subsidiary, RDC of Bedford Stuyvesant. More than 5,000 applications were received by Restoration%u2019s real estate management company for the 65 apartments.Senator D%u2019Amato credited Barnett for bringing the project to fruition last year after eight years in planning. %u201cWith his commitment to the dream of restoring the Bedford Stuyvesant community, Ted has proven thatAt the official opening of R estoration'sFulton South A partm ents. Congressmen Major Owens and Edolphus Towns, played key roles in securing the $1.1 million Federal grant which combined with a $4.6 million N.Y.S. Housing Authority mortgage and other financing to get the project underway last year. The second phase of the Fulton South project, the conversion of a 30,000 sq. ft. warehouse to commercial and industrial space is expected to be completed later this year.Check Property SalesNow at the LibraryThe most recent sales of property in Brooklyn may now be checked at the Brooklyn Public Library%u2019s Business Library in Downtown Brooklyn. %u201cRealty Service Sales%u201d is being received on a regular basis.Called by its publisher, %u201cA cumulative, comparable sales report for the real estate, appraising and mortgage lending industries, and allied businesses,%u201d Realty Sales Service lists, by address, the property sold, the seller and buyer, purchase price, mortgage lender and amount of mortgage, block and lot numbers and property dimensions. Two additional indexes list sales by buyer%u2019s names and seller%u2019s names.Issues are received at the library monthly, about six weeks after the latest sales listed, and have a cumulative six-month listing.
