A golfing trip to Central Oregon is not complete without a visit to Aspen Lakes Golf
Course. Located minutes from historic Sisters, the William Overdorf design is a testa-
ment to the region’s high desert beauty, a shared commitment to the environment and
its support of the local community.
Well known for its red cinder bunkers and iconic views of the Three Sisters Moun-
tains, the layout is a solid test from start to finish. Five sets of tees, ranging from 5,594
yards to 7,302 yards, allow players of varying ability to find the ideal experience. Each
hole offers its own unique perspective—from tee to green, players must negotiate mod-
erate elevation changes, though the course is very walkable throughout.
The most difficult hole at Aspen Lakes may be 14, a 479-yard par 4. A challenging
downhill journey in which players must negotiate a split-level fairway to a green guard-
ed by a gigantic tree in front, this hole may be one of the most talked about in Central
Oregon. The design of the hole more or less requires golfers to approach the green with
a long iron or hybrid, and once on the green, there is no guarantee of two-putting.
Waterways and hazards dot the landscape throughout the property, giving advanced
players a true test while effectively routing beginners in a manner that will provide all
with an enjoyable day on the links.

Black Butte Ranch is an ideal stay and play destination located in the heart of Central
Oregon. Situated beneath the Cascade Range, just eight miles northwest of Sisters,
Oregon, this incredible resort offers two impressive courses from which to choose— Big
Meadow Golf Course and Glaze Meadow Golf Course.
Big Meadow, designed by Robert Muir Graves in 1970 and renovated in 2008 by
Damian Pascuzzo, presents generous fairways, accessible greens and panoramic views
of neighboring Mount Washington, Three Sisters and Broken Top. One of the most
photographed holes in the state is 14, a 401-yard par 4. From its elevated tee, players
can experience an amazing view of Three Fingered Jack, an iconic peak of the Mount
Jefferson Wilderness.
Glaze Meadow offers a test that will appeal to fans of both classic and modern golf
design, with five sets of tees on every hole to accommodate players of all skill levels.
Originally opened in 1978, the course went through a dramatic overhaul in 2010 and
2011, removing dense forest overgrowth, re-routing holes and installing state of the art
irrigation. Following the roughly $3.75 million project, the work was recognized by Golf
Inc. Magazine as the 2012 Renovation of the Year.
